Living in the South, it is easy to become addicted to BBQ! If you’ve never driven through Kentucky, you definitely need to. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail offers distilleries galore. Ok, of the numerous ones to choose from, we actually have only stopped at Jim Beam, but the treasures we collected in the general store have lead to many fun evenings in our Georgia kitchen experimenting. Road trips seem to inspire my inner foodie and recently on route to Charlotte’s graduation from Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan this May, we took an exit in Kentucky – a gas station stop that turned into an adventure. Well worth it!! The Jim Beam Distillery is perfect for breathing in the rich southern landscapes and stretching your legs while discovering items like Bourbon Smoked Paprika and Bourbon Smoked Sorghum.
Below is my recipe for Smokey Bourbon Spice Rub…It’s perfect for Beef or Chicken or Pork. So light the Grill and throw a party! What are you waiting for?! We like to use our Smoker, but even the oven or slow cooker will suffice if you are craving BBQ in the middle of winter. Folks, this is a simple 3 ingredient rub recipe. No excuses.
Ingredients:
- 3-4 Tbsp. Bourbon Smoked Paprika
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/3 Cup Zatarain’s Garlic and Herb Seasoning
Rub this all over your meat of choice and let stand for 30-45 minutes before cooking (or while your grill gets hot). ENJOY!!
