Isn’t Christmas time wonderful? Going to see The Nutcracker (Charlotte’s first Nutcracker on Pointe!) That was Thanksgiving weekend and since then we have been busy decorating for Christmas, making Burlap Garlands and Burlap Runners…
and cooking a 5 course meal for a lovely group of teens for their Sweetheart Dance. Now that those two major events are over…
So, yesterday the house was a flutter of activity as we awaited Savannah getting home from Oglethorpe University, where she has been studying Biology…. and territorial behavior of birds apparently. I happen to know she somehow managed to squeeze in a social event or two as well. Sleep? No. But we are so glad she is home now for the Holidays!
and to top it all off the Grandparents came in from Sun City West! You will love Carol’s Roll Recipe!! Grandpa even makes a weird Protein Shake daily that I may share later.
The Geese must have gotten the word because they flew in for the party. So the gangs all here. Needless to say, I was unable to post How To Prepare for Guests when I was so busy preparing for guests.
My wonderful husband washed windows (it was 60 degrees!) and cut the fresh greenery for the mantle.
He is so sweet! There is no need to buy flowers when evergreens are all around us and FREE!
But let’s talk about “The Rattlesnake Roundup” shall we? Originally, Greg came up with this term as a way to get the girls excited about picking up their toys and doing household chores when they were a little younger. We don’t have toys around any more, (well except footballs and guitars) but the term still sticks with us. There are 2 types of Rattlesnake Roundups, you know. There is the Basic and the DELUXE, which is what one does to prepare for the arrival of guests. Much like pulling up to the Splash Carwash and telling the cashier which option you would like, here is how it goes:
Basic Rattlesnake Roundup
- Dishes clean and put away
- Laundry folded and put away
- Toys/Clutter picked up and set neatly….somewhere
- Trash taken out
- Beds Made
Deluxe Rattlesnake Roundup (includes all the Basic roundup tasks plus)
- Bathrooms completely SPARKLY clean and fresh
- Fresh clean linens on the guest beds
- Fresh clean towels available for guests
- Air Fresheners
- Floors swept (I love dry Swiffer!!!) and mopped
- Carpets vacuumed (put some smelly good powder on it before for an extra kick!)
Now, turn on some tunes, pour some wine and you got this! Coming Next…… Carol’s Yeast Rolls and Savannah’s Simple Baklava. Bye for now.
